BOESMANSKRANS

We have been here before and we also had a laid-on dinner here before, but lets start at the beginning. By now we have done so many hikes that we are bound to come across the same one's again. That is not a problem, it's always enjoyable being out with friends.
Who was there? We just need to look at the party picture: me, Janine, Judith, Lydia, Hester-Louise, Frans, Jenny, Judy, Oscar and who took the picture? That was Jörg.
We had a meal cooked for us on Saturday night by the farmer. We had some lamb cottage pie (is that what it was called) served with creamed vegetables and potatoes, very nice indead. Plus some pudding. This, at the same time, was Lydia's birthday bash, we paid for her meal.
The attraction of the place is not only the hiking, it is also a working farm with lifestock (cows, sheep, pigs, horses) and fields for planting millies. Nice to see the sheep, all 1250, coming in at night, the smell from the pigs, of course, was not that nice, it had this agricultural aroma to it.

The hike on Saturday was a success for some of us, others floundered at the tyre ladder. It is a bit hair raising, but we got it rigged up with a safety line. To no avail, of the females only Judith made it up, the rest turned around.
Thus the four of us, Jörg, me, Frans and Judith went up and over. When it turned out that we were going to make a loop around the mountain coming back to nearly the same point I claimed old age and sat down with Judith to await the return of the camel men.
The path from here follows the ridge and at the end drops down a sheep pass to the bottom of the mountain and for an easy return to camp.
The Sunday morning hike took us down to the river, which is the Klein Caledon river. Nice enough hike, not very difficult and we found a place with lovely stones, agates.
And than there was the party I mentioned above and here is the place for the picture.</p>
